Growing up my mother, Brenda, was always thinking up new things to create and sell. She created a line of hand painted feminine ties for the professional business woman. She created crazy, fun earrings that looked like french fries, fried eggs, all kinds of wacky things. Whatever she could get her hands on was fair game.
She, along with my grandmother, created Scandals, they were sole-less sandals, foot jewelry. She was way before her time. We, as a family, worked on these for several years. During those years I learned first hand what it meant to dream big and to work hard. We made those little suckers until our fingers bled, but we didn't give up.
My mother passed that passion on to me. I love to create things. I enjoy working hard to see what I made come to life, to be something beautiful and useful. I never stop thinking about learning new techniques or planning the next project.
Sadly my mother was taken from us much too soon. Shortly after my 18th birthday she was in a motorcycle accident. She was just 33 years old. There was so much more for us, my brothers and I, to learn from her. So many more smiles that needed to be shared. While she left us too soon, we learned to be diligent and to persevere to make our dreams happen.
That is why I have created Brenda's Legacy. I know that my mother would be proud that she passed her desire to own a small business on to her daughter. I know she would be proud of all the things I have learned. Mostly I know she would be proud that I am following my dream, our dream, of living a creative life.
Brenda's Legacy items can be found in my Etsy shop. I am currently taking custom orders as well. If you are looking for the perfect gift for someone special in your life and not quite sure what to give them let's talk and see what we can come up with to put a smile on their face.
